Kamat calls for conservation of wildlife

Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat has stressed the need to initiate steps for conservation of wild life and forests which is important for the survival of human beings.

PANAJI: Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat has stressed the need to initiate steps for conservation of wild life and forests which is important for the survival of human beings.

"Unless we take necessary steps we will not be able to save flora and fauna," the chief minister said and emphasized the need to create awareness among the children about the importance of wild life.

He was speaking as chief guest at the concluding function of wild life week celebrations organized by the Goa forest department at a function held at Ana fonte garden, Margao.

"The state government through the forest department is endeavoring to highlight importance about wild life for the students are one among the various steps taken by the government in this direction," he said.

Stating that the competitions on wild life for children will help to promote talent among them the chief minister said "there is no dearth of talent among the Goan children and the creations in the form of photographs published in the official diaries and calendars for the year 2009 is an eloquent testimony to the talent of the Goans, he added.
