“To free the city of garbage and make the city beautiful, it is necessary to manage the waste through people’s participation,” said Pharande. “For Nashik to be Smart City, it is important to make it clean and beautiful and the youth of Green Up are trying to get the bio-waste converted into compost which is a very good thing. People should support their efforts,” Pharande added.
Standing committee chairman Salim Shaikh, Nashik Municipal Corporation officials and citizens were present to see the demonstration.
“Like Pune, citizens of Nashik should also help keep the city clean along with Nashik Municipal Corporation. Citizens should realise that it is also their responsibility to keep the city clean and thus help the NMC,” said Pharande.
Dheeraj Bacchav of Green Up said that Nashikites should participate in waste management in large numbers and segregating waste and converting biodegradable ones into compost was very important.
