Green energy to energize 430 police station in MP

MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (MPUVNL) is going to energize some 430 police stations of the state with green energy under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) in this fiscal, officials said.

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (MPUVNL) is going to energize some 430 police stations of the state with green energy under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) in this fiscal, officials said.

Two years ago, MPUVNL had lightened up 38 police stations in naxal-affected Balaghat district of the state.

“We have received Rs 12 crore from the police headquarters here to light up 430 police stations on March 31,” MPUVNL executive engineer Shrikant Deshmukh told TOI.

MPUVNL is set up solar photovoltaic plant of two kilo watt in each police station; he said adding NNNSM has already given its nod to this project.

I think we are going to complete this installation work in next six months, Deshmukh said.

He said that under JNNSM project, 50 per cent finance comes from the centre, 20 per cent from the state and 30 per cent from the beneficiary. “We have already got Rs 7 crore from the centre to start the work,” he added.

He said they would have completed the installation of the plants by now, had the MP police headquarters not opted for enhanced 2 kW in place of 1 kW. Earlier, MPUVNL wanted to get green energy installed in 681 police stations but it changed its plan to 430 police stations later on.
