Govt, pvt forests to be brought under carbon credit plan: CM

The Himachal Pradesh government is considering to bring all government and private forests under the proposed carbon credit plan to maintain ecological balance in the Himalayan region, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said.

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh government is considering to bring all government and private forests under the proposed carbon credit plan to maintain ecological balance in the Himalayan region, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said on Friday.

Dhumal said this was the right time to take remedial measures and stop activities which damage the environment, besides planting trees to compensate for the damage.

He also appealed to the people to actively participate in the 'Jan Jan Abhiyan-2008', a programme of large-scale planting of herbs which will be launched on August 3, according to an official release.
