NAGPUR: It is the state government's dream project to plant a 100 crore trees in the state. Giving an impetus to this dream, the forest department has decided to provide free saplings to government departments.

A government resolution has said that saplings from the forest department nurseries run under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme will be given to government departments without any charges for planting under the 100 crore tree plantation project.

Nagpur forest department has 40 lakh saplings in its 35 nurseries which will be available to various government offices free of charge. The government offices can contact the range forest officer (RFO) in order to get as many saplings as they need.

Also, the government offices which wish to take advantage of free sapling facility of the forest department have to submit a bond specifying that the saplings have been acquired to plant them under the 100 crore tree plantation project, and that they will be preserved and conserved. The bond will have to be submitted to the respective RFO.
