Free distribution of saplings to make Bihar green
Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday formally inaugurated the free distribution of saplings here at Rajdhani Vatika.
All the 205 government-owned nurseries would be distributing an average of 5,000 saplings from Thursday onwards. Under this scheme, the government will distribute saplings of teak, guava, Indian gooseberry (aamla) and 'kadamb'.
One person can get only five saplings under this scheme. Speaking on this occasion, Modi said that the ongoing 'Chhatra Vriksharopan Yojna' has been recently modified. Now, saplings would not be given to students individually. Instead, it would be given to a group of five students. The students can plant these saplings only at their school premises.
There are nine government nurseries in the city, and thus 45,000 saplings are expected to be distributed in the city.
