Ex-mukhiya held for keeping deer at home

PATNA: Acting on a tip-off, Patna police on Monday arrested former mukhiya Murari Singh for keeping a deer at his Bajipur residence under Bihta police station area in Patna district.

Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said keeping a deer at home is illegal. "The two-year-old deer belongs to blackbuck family, an endangered species. We are interrogating Murari to ascertain whether he kept the deer at his place as a pet or was to smuggle the animal," he said.

According to the SSP, Murari told the police that his son was fond of deer and he had bought it from Rohtas. "He will be sent to jail for violating the Wildlife Protection Act," he said.

Fraud arrest: Patna police on Monday arrested five persons, including their mastermind, from Patrakarnagar police station area for allegedly duping people by promising jobs.

The SSP said one Rajkishore Prasad Singh alias Raj K P Singh was arrested from a flat in Yogeshwari Apartment under Patrakarnagar police station area. Singh admitted that he had been running the business since 1998. "He has acquired properties worth crores but we are yet to unearth his assets," the SSP said.

"He was running a company named The Scouts and Guides Organization and was duping jobseekers. One Roshan Kumar from Koderma paid him Rs 3 lakh for a job and on the basis of his complaint, we lodged an FIR and started the investigation," he added.

According to police, Rajkishore formed his fake company on the pattern of Bharat Scouts and Guides and was duping people for long. He was earlier sent to jail twice.

Naxalite arrest: According to sources, Khagaria police arrested a suspected CPI (Maoist) member, Sandip, from PMCH on Monday. He had come, along with his brother, to PMCH for treatment.
