Elephant found dead in Sambalpur forest
A female elephant was found dead near Udsung village under Bamra forest division in Sambalpur district on Saturday.The villagers first spotted the carcass and informed the forest officers about it.
The villagers first spotted the carcass and informed the forest officers about it. "There was no injury mark on the elephant. The animal is aged about 40 years. The autopsy was conducted today," said a forester of Bamra forest division Deepak Mahanand, who had gone to the spot.
"The bones and some other parts of the elephant will be sent for forensic test. The exact reason behind the death of elephant could be ascertained after the test," he said.
In another incident, two female elephants died after coming in contact with an electricity wire at Junani village in Ambabhana block under Bargarh forest division, around 120 km from here on Thursday. The villagers spotted the carcass on Friday morning and informed the forest official about the death of the elephants.
