Elephant carcass found in Odisha jungle

The carcass of a female elephant was found today from Chakara ghati jungle in Tarsingi Forest range in Ganjam district.

BERHAMPUR (Odisha): The carcass of a female elephant was found today from Chakara ghati jungle in Tarsingi Forest range in Ganjam district.

The female elephant was suspected to have died a natural death three or four days ago, forest officials said. "We think the elephant died in natural way," divisional forest officer, Ghumusara (south) B B Behera, said.

A herd of elephants consisting of around 15 to 20 elephants were roaming in the area for last several days.

Last month a two-month-old elephant calf was found dead at Pochulundi area in Muzagada jungle in the same forest division.
