The carcass of a female elephant was found today from Chakara ghati jungle in Tarsingi Forest range in Ganjam district.
The female elephant was suspected to have died a natural death three or four days ago, forest officials said. "We think the elephant died in natural way," divisional forest officer, Ghumusara (south) B B Behera, said.
A herd of elephants consisting of around 15 to 20 elephants were roaming in the area for last several days.
