Eight poachers arrested in UP

Eight alleged poachers were on Friday arrested from Parsia forests while they were attempting to trap wild animals.

LAKHIMPUR (UP): Eight alleged poachers were on Friday arrested from Parsia forests while they were attempting to trap wild animals.

While eight poachers were nabbed, three of their accomplices escaped, police said here, adding two traps and some sharp edged weapons were seized.

District Forest Officer Ramesh Chandra Jha said a case under Wildlife Protection Act had been lodged against the accused and a manhunt has been launched for those who escaped.

Six of the nabbed poachers were identified as Kallu, Mangu, Shyamu, Jangali, Bandha Lal and Mahesh, he said.
