Dolphin and other sea creatures found dead at Nargol beach

A dolphin and other creatures in the sea were found dead on the virgin beach of Nargol village in Umbergaon taluka of Valsad district in the past two days.

SURAT : A dolphin and other creatures in the sea were found dead on the virgin beach of Nargol village in Umbergaon taluka of Valsad district in the past two days.

Sources said that the dead dolphin had washed ashore in the evening hours and that the villagers also spotted some oily material in the sea water along the sea shore.

This is the first instance when a dead dolphin was washed ashore the Nargol beach, which is also known as the virgin beach of south Gujarat.

Siddharth Bhandari, a resident of Nargol village said, "We were just strolling on the beach when we spotted some black thing. After a closer look, we found the dead dolphin. There was some oily material in the sea water as well"

JK Patel, regional officer, Sarigam told TOI, "Our teams have been surveying the entire four kilometer long sea shore from Umbergaon to Nargol since morning till afternoon for the oily material in the sea. There is oil pollution in the sea, which has resulted in the death of the creatures"
