About 121 adult tigers and 400 snow leopards have been spotted at various wildlife reserves in Nepal, a survey by Department of National Park and Wildlife Reserves' points.

KATHMANDU: About 121 adult tigers and 400 snow leopards have been spotted at various wildlife reserves in Nepal, a survey by Department of National Park and Wildlife Reserves' points.

The survey also says that the number of adult tigers and snow leopard has not reduced in comparison to 2057 BS when it was estimated that around 98 to 123 adult tigers inhabit the reserves,except in Shuklaphanta reserve

According to the report there are 91 adult tigers in Chitwan National Park, 18 in Bardiya National Park, four in Shuklaphanta Wildlife reserves and four in Parsa Wildlife Reserves.

In the past to calculate the number of tiger it was multiplied in the ratio of 2.8 however this survey was done directly with the help of camera trapping technology, National Trust for Nature Conservation's Dr Shanta Raj Gyanwali said.

The 14-month-long survey started from Baisakh 2065 BS in coordination with the Department of Forest, World Wildlife Fund Nepal and National Trust for Nature Conservation.
