Bailable warrants issued against Aamir, Gowariker

A Gujarat court has issued bailable warrants against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and four others for filming chinkara, an animal protected under the Wildlife Act, in the superhit movie Lagaan.

AHMEDABAD: A court in Gujarat on Thursday issued bailable warrants against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and four others for filming chinkara, an animal protected under the Wildlife Act, in the superhit Bollywood movie "Lagaan".

Among the four others is the film's director Ashutosh Gowariker.

Commercial shooting of Chinkara is banned under the Wildlife (Protection) Act.

A Chinkara, a Schedule I animal under the Act, was filmed in the 2002 superhit movie which was shot in Kutch district of Gujarat.

Chief Juidicial Magistrate of Bhuj asked all the five to appear before it on April 15.

The Gujarat Forest Department had filed an FIR in the court against Aamir and others.
