Vice-President of India Dr Hamid Ansari said that history books need to bring a synergy between human history and those of animals, flora and fauna.

Laying the foundation stone of the fourth regional Museum of Natural History in Jaisinghpura in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, Ansari said: “Our history books do not teach about human attitude towards animals, flora and Fauna.”

“We need to read this and this museum will teach us about this history,” he said, adding both human history and history of animals, flora and fauna needs to be taught in cohesion.

Named Rajiv Gandhi Regional Museum of Natural History, the museum is an attempt to give a fair play to the biological diversity of the country, especially of the desert state.

The museum will come up on an area of 7.42 acres with an investment of Rs.350 million. A three-storey building will home the museum in Ramsinghpura in Sawai Madhopur district, better known as the land of tigers.

Shri Namo Narain Meena, Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests appealed to people to preserve forests and endangered species. Speaking on this occasion as Chief Guest, he said that the government was planning to open another regional center of natural history at Gangtok, Sikkim for the north-eastern region.
