CHENNAI: A leopard that was rescued from the Nilgiris south forest division on Sunday was brought to Vandalur zoo in Chennai on Wednesday morning for treatment.
Zoo authorities said as the leopard travelled for several hours from Ooty, it was found to be a little tired. There were no external injuries on its body.

They said the animal would be kept under observation for a couple of days, after which its health condition would be diagnosed. Then only treatment would begin.

The animal was found in Kanneri village in the Kundha forest range in the Nilgiris South forest division on Sunday. The animal was struggling to walk. It was rescued by the officials with the help of wildlife experts.

The animal had been under observation for a couple of days in the Nilgiris. As forest officials in the Nilgiris felt that better treatment would be given to the animal in the zoo, it was sent here, the authorities added.
