92 killed, 790 injured in man-animal conflict in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir government said as many as 92 people were killed and 790 injured in attacks by wild animals in the state in past four years.

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir government said as many as 92 people were killed and 790 injured in attacks by wild animals in the state in past four years.

Replying to the question in the assembly, Minister for Forests Mian Altaf said 92 persons have been killed and 790 injured due to man-animal conflict in the state since 2006.

613 persons have been paid exgratia and compensation, he said.

The state board for wildlife in its last meeting recommended financial allocation of Rs 1.20 crore for settling pending compensation claims of prior to 2005, he said.
