A total of 77 Olive Ridley sea turtles, an endangered species, were let out into the sea near Dhanushkodi today, a forest department official said.

RAMESWARAM: A total of 77 Olive Ridley sea turtles, an endangered species, were let out into the sea near Dhanushkodi today, a forest department official said.

Abdul Jaffer said forest department officials had moved the eggs to a safe place for incubation. The eggs hatched at M R Sathiyam sea coast near Dhanushkodi two days back, he said.

Olive Ridley turtles are protected under the wild life Act.
