7 Myanmarese poachers held

Indian Coast Guard have arrested seven Myanmarese poachers from a boat off North Sentinel island in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coast Guard sources said.

PORT BLAIR: Indian Coast Guard have arrested seven Myanmarese poachers from a boat off North Sentinel island in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coast Guard sources said.

Coast Guard personnel aboard ICGS Aruna Asaf Ali noticed the boat on the radar and, after a chase, were able to intercept it.

Four diving sets, a diving compressor, an air cylinder, four diving goggles and a magnetic compass were seized from the boat, the sources said.

After the arrest in the early hours of April 3, the Myanmarese people and the boat were brought to Port Blair and handed over to the police
