50-year old female elephant killed

UDHAGAMANDALAM: A 50-year old female elephant was killed by some other elephants in an area coming under Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary, near here.

The seriously injured elephant was found lying in the area last evening, with blood oozing from abdomen and back, forest department sources said.

Though a team of veterinarians provided necessary treatment to the animal, it died this afternoon, the sources said.

The carcass was buried after carrying out postmortem, they said.
