AHMEDABAD: A bungalow in Chandkheda became the delivery ward for a comb duck as she gave birth to 22 ducklings on Saturday.

Vasudev Babhiya, an ONGC official whose bungalow is the last one in Chandkheda’s Rajshri Society, welcomed a comb duck with 22 of its ducklings at his gate on Monday morning. “My wife Shobha opened the gate for the bird and she came in and started flying around my yard. We fed water to all of them. The ducklings went under our car and played,” Babhiya said.

They then informed Arvind Parmar, an animal rescue worker who also helped them rescue a pigeon during Uttarayan this year. “I put all the ducklings in a basket and released them along with the mother at the Sabarmati river. The ducklings were about 5 days old,” Parmar said.
