About 200 kg of sea cucumber, an endangered species, was seized by forest department officials today from a house at Keezhakarai in the district.

RAMESWARAM(TN): About 200 kg of sea cucumber, an endangered species, was seized by forest department officials today from a house at Keezhakarai in the district.

Two persons who planned to smuggle the sea cucumbers to Singapore via Sri Lanka were arrested, officials said.

In another seizure at Tirupalakudi, officials seized 150 kg of sea lizard and two sea horses, meant to be smuggled to Hong Kong.

The seizures were worth Rs 10 lakh, the officials said.
