NIZAMABAD: Ten peacocks died after consuming pesticide-mixed water at Chittapur village in Balkonda mandal of Nizamabad on Sunday morning. According to forest department officials, the peacocks died soon after having the water in the agriculture fields on the outskirts of the village. The birds strayed into the fields from the nearby forest to quench their thirst and consumed the water in the paddy field. Sources said farmers sprinkled pesticides on the field a day before. The farmers, who found the peacocks lying unconscious when they went to the fields in the morning, informed the matter to the forest officials. The forest officials rushed to the spot and shifted the carcasses for autopsy.
