Tata Power saves energy which can light up 470 houses in a year

MUMBAI : Tata Power's nationwide energy conservation programme Club Enerji has sensitized around 9 lakh citizens in Mumbai in 2013-14 through primary contact programme and secondary sensitization and saved more than a million units of energy in the city.

The energy saved can light up 470 houses for a year, Tata Power officials said.

"The units saved by the various initiatives undertaken by Club Enerji are equivalent to saving around 1000 tonnes of CO2 emissions,'' a spokesperson said. Tata Power has undertaken various initiatives understanding the need for preserving the environment through active measures and has popularised the importance among citizens through rallies and door to door sensitization programmes.

Tata Power managing director Anil Sardana said, "With the demand for power in the country steadily increasing and the energy resources rapidly depleting, it is vital to involve our youth, as decision-makers of tomorrow, in an initiative to avert a crippling power crisis. Today, we are proud to reach out to the citizens of Mumbai by driving the message of energy and resource conservation. The efforts of Club Enerji are now reaping great rewards with the success of saving a million units of electricity."
