NGT stays 8 more projects near Bellandur
Continuing its crackdown on construction activity around Bellandur lake in east Bengaluru, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered the status quo on eight projects around the water body.

In an order on November 2, the tribunal's south bench said: "Considering the seriousness of the issue…, the bench is of the view that respondents No. 9 to No. 16 must be directed to maintain the status quo until further order."
The bench posted the case, based on J Mandhan Kumar's complaint, to November 27. In April last, the NGT had ordered a stay on several constructions spread across 80 acres.
Bellandur lake has been in the middle of controversies. Residents of the area have staged protests against the alleged apathy of civic agencies. Besides, the water body has been in the news for getting 600 mld of sewage into its valley shared with Varthur lake.
