Four new sewage treatment plants for Sangam City
Construction of four new sewage treatment plant is underway at Naini, Numaya Dahi, Ponghat and Kodra areas. A total of Rs 305 crore would be released under the NGRBA.
Construction of 20 MLD, 50 MLD, 25 MLD and 10 MLD sewage treatment plants are underway at Naini, Numaya Dahi, Kodra and Ponghat respectively. Besides, the laying of a 14.2 km trunk sewer line of 300 mm and 1,400 mm width is also underway under the same project.
The officials of Ganga pollution control board and UP Jal Nigam are also making efforts to renovate a 5.72-km old sewer line in the city.
Project manager, JP Mani said, "Efforts are underway to renovate the three existing pumping stations at Chachar Nala, Gau Ghat and Lukerganj, besides setting up of four new pumping stations at Kodra, Pongrhat, Chachar Nala and Sasur Khanderi".
He also added that jal nigam after acquiring land for the construction of four new STPs, is making efforts to complete the job of laying sewer and water pipe lines. Besides, construction work at all four new STP sites are in full swing.
Under the project, sites have selected to set up as many as 135 community toilets to be constructed for the people living in slums before the Maha Kumbh. Also, the survey has been done to renovate the Dhobighat so as to check the discharge of untreated water into the river.
