Clinton Foundation selects Godrej project for climate programme

Godrej Properties said its upcoming township, Godrej Garden City, in Ahmedabad has been selected for the Climate Positive Development Programme, launched by former US President Bill Clinton.

NEW DELHI: Godrej Properties said its upcoming township, Godrej Garden City, in Ahmedabad has been selected for the Climate Positive Development Programme, launched by former US President Bill Clinton.

The aim of the Climate Positive Development Programe, which is a part of an initiative by William J Clinton Foundation, is to support climate positive real estate development and reduce the net greenhouse gas emission below zero, the company said in a statement.

"Godrej Properties looks forward to working towards achieving the goal of a climate positive development in Goldrej Garden City," Godrej Properties executive director Pirojsha Godrej said.

Godrej Garden City, a 270-acre township, is one among 16 founding projects on six continents. The climate positive programme includes implementing economically viable innovations in buildings, the generation of clean energy, waste management, water management, transporation and outdoor lighting system.

Godrej Garden City is being developed by Godrej Properies, the real estate development arm of Godrej Group.
