Tom Holland’s fans have much reason to cheer as the actor is set to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man next year. The title of the fourth part of the franchise, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, was announced at CinemaCon on April 1. While everyone is waiting for the next part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man movies, there are very few details available about Brand New Day. The movie will be released on July 31 next year.

The secrecy around the film has prompted director Destin Daniel Cretton to not confirm even the cast of Spider-man: Brand New Day. While Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, there is little clarity on the rest of the characters. Sadie Sink was reportedly cast in an unspecified role. With the title announcement of Spider-Man 4, there are several theories around what role the actress could play.

Sadie Sink in Spider-Man Brand New Day

Earlier, it was being speculated that the Stranger Things actress could essay Jean Grey or Mary Jane Watson. Now, a lot of fans are claiming that Sadie Sink could play the role of Menace in the superhero movie. The character was one of the main antagonists of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day comic book storyline. In the comics, Menace or Lily Hollister is the love interest of Harry Osborn. She accidentally gets exposed to Norman Osborn or the original Green Goblin’s old chemical formulas. This changes Hollister into the grey-skinned antagonist Menace. She also adopts the violent tendencies of the Green Goblin due to her exposure to the chemicals.

The Menace has several superhuman abilities such as regenerative healing, heightened speed and reflexes, and extraordinary stamina. This makes her a tough villain in Spider-Man’s roll call of villains.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day plot speculation

While no official confirmation has been given about Sadie Sink’s role, the title of the movie has started rumours about the possible plot of Brand New Day. If one looks at the comic book storyline, Brand New Day highlights the repercussions of Peter Parker’s identity reveal post the Civil War. Desperate to regain normalcy and protect his loved ones, he makes a deal with Mephisto to make everyone forget his superhero identity. What follows is a complicated mess.

Some elements of this storyline were already present in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This has led fans to believe that Brand New Day will focus on the plot of the Spider-Man comic of the same name. However, with Marvel’s history of surprises, one cannot be sure if the plot will follow the comics. What is definitely fixed is that fans will have to wait to see how Spider-Man’s new story unfolds.
