Rajkummar Rao’s next film, Bhool Chuk Maaf, will not have a theatrical release. The movie, which was earlier set to hit theatres on May 9, will now directly stream on OTT. The makers have issued an official statement, adding that the film’s theatrical release was called off in the light of heightened security drills across the nation and recent events like Operation Sindoor.

As per the official statement by producer Maddock Films, Bhool Chuk Maaf will now stream on Prime Video starting May 16. The rom-com stars Wamiqa Gabbi opposite Rajkummar Rao.



Rajkummar Rao’s Bhool Chuk Maaf to release on OTT

Film critic Taran Adarsh posted an official statement by Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios on the matter. The statement read, “In light of recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios, have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16 - only on Prime Video, worldwide.

The statement added, “While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating this film with you in theatres, the spirit of the nation comes first. Jai Hind.”

Rajkummar Rao on Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor was a series of targeted missile strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7. Rajkummar Rao, in a recent interview, had backed the move and said he was proud of the Indian armed forces.

“Whatever decision that our administration is taking, we are with them in it, because what has happened, should not have happened. It made us all very, very angry, very sad. So absolutely we are in it together as a nation and we are extremely proud of our armed forces,” the Trapped actor stated.


About Bhool Chuk Maaf

The film centres around a would-be groom who discovers he is stuck in a time-loop the day before his wedding. What follows is a ride full of chaos, laughter and romance. Bhool Chuk Maaf brings Wamiqa Gabbi and Rajkummar Rao together for the first time. Directed by Karan Sharma, the project also stars Seema Pahwa, Raghubir Yadav and Sanjay Mishra.
