Fans claim Allu Arjun-Atlee’s AA22 poster is copied from this sci-fi blockbuster

Allu Arjun is set to collaborate with Atlee for his next project - a science fiction entertainer. The announcement, which came on the Pushpa star’s birthday, sent his fans into a frenzy. However the film, tentatively titled AA22, has already become a topic of debate. The reason- its announcement poster.

Several fans pointed out that the poster of AA22 bears striking similarities to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. Dune starred Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya in the lead. The sci-fi franchise has garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success.

The debate began when Sun Pictures, who is producing AA22, dropped an announcement video about the project. A poster, also shared on X, caught the attention of some fans, who compared it to Dune. “Doesn't it look like the Dune poster?” a comment read.



Some claimed Atlee’s next project would be inspired from Hollywood blockbusters like Dune and Interstellar.


“Dune Poster, why don’t you guys create one instead of copying??” an account asked.


However, some people were super excited for Atlee and Allu Arjun’s film and showered praises on the duo. “Exciting things are ahead,” an individual wrote.

The project is said to be a sci-fi entertainer. AA22 is expected to go on floors this year. More details about the project have not been revealed yet.

The announcement video showed Allu Arjun reaching Sun Pictures’ office in Chennai. He met with producer Kalanithi Maran and Atlee to discuss the movie. The video caption read, “Gear up for the Landmark Cinematic Event. #AA22xA6 - A Magnum Opus from Sun Pictures.”

Atlee plagiarism allegations

Regarding the controversy about AA22’s poster, this is not the first time Atlee has faced charges about plagiarism. His previous project, Jawan, had also faced similar allegations. Many people had claimed that the 2023 Shah Rukh Khan-starrer bore similarities to the 1989 Tamil film Thaai Naadu. Atlee had refuted all the claims.

As for Allu Arjun, his sci-fi entertainer is not the only project in the pipeline. The actor will also reprise his role for the next instalment of the Pushpa franchise. Titled, Pushpa 3 - The Rampage, the film will hit theatres in 2028.
