Diljit Dosanjh reveals Shakira’s fashion emergency delayed his Met Gala entry

Diljit Dosanjh dazzled everyone with his Met Gala debut earlier this month. Looking absolutely regal in a white outfit, the singer-actor managed to make heads turn at the prestigious event. Now, Diljit has dropped a new video, going behind the scenes of his Met Gala prep. According to the singer, it was Shakira who faced a fashion emergency at the last minute, in turn delaying his own appearance at the gala.

The video shows Diljit in usual charming avatar, with his hilarious commentary giving his fans an interesting look at what goes on behind the scenes.

The clip showed Diljit Dosanjh working out, choosing the correct accessories to go with his outfit and sharing some light-hearted moments with his team. The video captured the singer getting ready in his room, explaining that there is a fashion emergency going on next door, where Shakira is. Her team was running to fix a broken zipper at the last minute.

“Shakira ki emergency ki wajah se sada kaam suffer hogaya (We are suffering because of Shakira’s emergency). But it is okay... Hips don’t lie and she doesn’t lie,” Diljit joked, referencing the Colombian musician’s hit track.

Later, Diljit revealed that his exit from the hotel was delayed since he was scheduled to pose for photos with Shakira before leaving for the venue and she got late.

He said, “They are not taking us to the main area, all the action is happening at the backstage itself. Takes us to the stage. I guess the zipper of Shakira’s broke, that’s why we are late. I knew we would be late because of Shakira.”

Diljit made an appearance at the Met Gala in a white suit, coupled with a drape and an embellished turban of the same hue. The singer wore a neckpiece inspired by the Cartier necklace owned by the Maharaja of Patiala.

The Crew actor was asked who he was most excited to meet at the event. “Don’t take me wrong but I am excited that everybody will be looking at me,” Diljit said.

Apart from Diljit Dosanjh, Shah Rukh Khan, Kiara Advani and Priyanka Chopra were among the Indian celebrities present at the Met Gala 2025. The theme of the event was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming projects

The actor-singer will next feature in Border 2 alongside Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan. Diljit was earlier set to appear in No Entry 2, but has reportedly quit the project. Diljit also has Sardaar Ji 3 in the pipeline.
