TMC's Abhishek Banerjee files nomination from Bengal's Diamond Harbour LS seat

Trinamool Congress's national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, has filed his nomination papers from the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district. Banerjee, who is contesting for a third consecutive term from the seat, submitted his papers at the district collector's office in Alipore after walking from Kalighat.

Abhishek Banerjee, the All India General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress, stated, "He has set his sights on a hat-trick from Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency. Not just aiming for a hat-trick, he has expressed his desire to elevate Diamond Harbour to the number one position in terms of victory margin across the state."

Abhishek's winning margin from Diamond Harbor in 2019 was over 3.2 lakhs. He had said earlier that he wants to increase it to at least 4 lakhs. Abhishek said that he wants to go one step further and win the votes with the largest margin in the state. Last time that record was held by BJP candidate Raju Bista from Darjeeling. He won by 4.13 lakh votes.



In the 2019 elections, Abhishek Banerjee won from Diamond Harbour by a margin of over 3.2 lakh votes. He had expressed his desire to increase that margin to at least four lakh votes. He revealed his ambition to win by the largest margin in the state.

The current record for the largest victory margin in the state is held by the BJP candidate Raju Bista from Darjeeling, who won by 4.13 lakh votes.

The results of the election will be known on June 4.
