In what could lead to another controversy, BJP's Bardhaman-Durgapur candidate Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday claimed that the Trinamool Congress always benefits from natural calamities and disasters as its leaders steal the money sent by the Centre and fill their own pockets. This comes just a day after the EC censured Ghosh for his comments about West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

"Trinamool Congress has benefitted from the relief related funds. When there is a storm, Trinamool feels lucky. Whatever funds are received from the Centre, they steal it and put it in their own pockets. The state government should stand by the victims and support them in times of crisis. Whenever there is a storm, a cyclone or an earthquake, Trinamool reaps benefits," Ghosh alleged.

At least five people died after a sudden storm and heavy rain wreaked havoc in Jalpaiguri town on Sunday.

Kunal Ghosh, another Trinamool leader, slammed Ghosh and said, "Dilip Ghosh is in a state of frustration after he has been removed from Medinipur seat and sent to Bardhaman to fight polls. Now, he is trying to grab headlines as he must establish himself there."
