Balurghat: The arrest of two suspects in the Rameswaram Cafe blast case from West Bengal has triggered another round of war of words between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP, just one week ahead of the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls.

While the BJP projected this as another example to continue its allegation that the state has become a safe haven for terrorists, Trinamool supremo and CM Mamata Banerjee said the state police were quick to act in the arrest of the accused who hailed from another state and asked what the BJP governments were doing. The Bengal Police, meanwhile, took to microblogging platform X to deny BJP's allegations.

One of the first to hit out at the Trinamool government on Friday was BJP Bengal co-in charge Amit Malviya. "Who is the chief minister of Bengal and home minister of Bengal? Has Mamata Banerjee resigned or is too incompetent to defend her poor track record on law and order," he asked.
