BJP chief Amit Shah has alleged that Trinamool unleashed violence during his Tuesday roadshow in Kolkata and attacked the EC for being a “mute spectator” to alleged rigging and other poll code violations.

“EC has become a mute spectator to attempts to rig polls in West Bengal. It should immediately intervene. Historysheeters... are arrested during elections across the country. In Bengal, they are released after they furnish a bond. Why is it silent?


A day after BJP president Amit Shah’s roadshow took a violent turn, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee held a march in Kolkata on Wednesday to protest against the clashes that took place, including vandalisation of social reformer Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar’s bust. With the political temperature soaring in the state, Banerjee and her TMC supporters held a 7 km march from Beliaghata to Shyambazar in north Kolkata.
