Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election 2024 date: Voting on November 13, results on November 23

Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced the schedule for bye elections for 48 assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats across 15 states. The election in Wayanad Lok Sabha seat will happen on November 13.

The bypolls for Wayanad Lok Sabha seat was neccesitated after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi vacated the seat, opting to retain Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. In his place, the Congress has decided to nominate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as its candidate for the upcoming by-poll in Wayanad.

Wayanad Lok Sabha Elections 2024:

Earlier in June, Rahul Gandhi had a remarkable electoral performance in Wayanad, securing a decisive victory in the recent general elections by defeating CPI’s Annie Raja with a margin of 3,64,422 votes. Gandhi polled 6,47,445 votes, while Annie Raja managed 2,83,023 votes. BJP’s K. Surendran finished third with 1,41,045 votes.

Wayanad Lok Sabha Elections 2019

In 2019, Rahul Gandhi won the Wayanad seat with a record margin of 4,31,770 votes, and his recent victory marked his second consecutive win from the constituency. His leadership and popularity in the region have garnered widespread support, leaving political observers watching closely to see if Priyanka Gandhi Vadra can replicate her brother’s success in the upcoming by-election.
