Uttar Pradesh: BJP's Jaiveer Singh to take on Dimple Yadav in Mainpuri

NEW DELHI: The BJP has decided to field Jaiveer Singh, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, against Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri. It also announced the names of eight other candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. And in the Ghazipur parliamentary seat of Paras, Nath Rai, a close confidant of Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, will contest against Afzal Ansari, the sitting MP, who is contesting on the Samajwadi Party (SP) symbol.

Neeraj Shekhar, son of former prime minister Chandrashekhar, has been given a ticket from Ballia. Shekhar, currently a Rajya Sabha member, will be replacing the current MP Virendra Singh Mast.

Neeraj Tripathi, son of BJP leader and former Governor, the late Kesari Nath Tripathi, replaces Rita Bahuguna Joshi, the sitting MP from Allahabad.


The BJP has also replaced its sitting Phulpur MP Keshri Devi Patel with Parveen Patel. BP Saroj, the sitting MP from Machhlishahr, Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved constituency, has been renominated by the BJP.

In Kaushambi, SC reserved constituency, Vinod Sonkar, the sitting MP, will be seeking re-election for a third term.
