Going by the latest trends as per Election Commission, the Mahagathbandhan is losing eight seats because Congress played spoilsport in those constituencies. On one seat Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav also played spoilsport for the SP. SP's Firozabad candidate and sitting MP Akshay Yadav is trailing behind BJP candidate Chandresh Kumar Jadaun. Shivpal Yadav has challenged Akshay from the seat. Though he couldn’t win, he did enough damage to make him lose.

On other seats, wherever Congress gave strong candidates, it damaged the grand alliance's prospects. The eight seats are Barabanki, Bijnor, Dharuhara, Kairana, Shrawasti, Sitapur and Sultanpur.

In Sultanpur, Menaka Gandhi is leading by a small margin 4400 votes against BSP candidate Chandra Bhadra Singh. The reason for this is Congress candidate Sanjay Singh who has got around 19,000 votes till now.

In Bijnor, BSP candidate Malook Nagar is trailing by 1000 votes with BJP Bhartendra Singh. Congress candidate Nasemuddin Siddiqui has got around 15000 votes to make BSP trail behind the BJP.

Similarly in Sitapur, Congress candidate Kaiser Jahan has got more than 40000 votes to put the BSP candidate Nakul Dubey trail behind the BJP.
