Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the party general secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi held a 'Jan Jagran Abhiyan' (public awakening campaign) march in Rahul Gandhi's former parliamentary constituency Amethi on Saturday. Gandhi sought to appeal to the people emotionally, saying the "bond between Congress and Amethi is that of a family and can never break".

As he spoke about the developmental works done by Congress in Amethi, Gandhi also reiterated the address he delivered in Jaipur, marking a distinction between "Hindus" and "Hindutvawadis", equating PM Narendra Modi with the latter, defining "Hindutvawadi" as anyone who lets his fear turn into "anger and violence" and deviates from the path of "truth".
