BJP's Vinod Tawde, Radha Agarwal discuss UP poll preparations

Gorakhpur (UP), BJP national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh in-charge Vinod Tawde met Rajya Sabha member Radha Mohan Das Agarwal and discussed the political situation in the state, organisational strengths and weaknesses, ticket distribution and preparations for the upcoming elections.

Sharing details of the meeting, Agarwal said in a post on X that Tawde visited his residence in Daudpur on Thursday night during his Gorakhpur tour and spent time with him.

"Discussions were held on the political situation in Uttar Pradesh, organisational strengths and weaknesses, the process of ticket distribution and election preparations," Agarwal said.


In another post on Friday, Agarwal, without naming anyone, shared a news report about Tawde's visit and wrote, "The state in-charge reached the house of the person whom the BJP's metropolitan unit forgot to include as a special invitee, and discussed the political situation for an hour."

The post also carried a photograph of Agarwal with Tawde.

Agarwal has not been included in the list of special invitees of the BJP's Gorakhpur metropolitan unit.

He has represented Gorakhpur city as an MLA four times and is currently a Rajya Sabha member. He also served as a BJP national general secretary under the leadership of J P Nadda.

Sources said no senior state, regional or city-level BJP office-bearer was present during Tawde's meeting with Agarwal and described it as a personal meeting.

Tawde had earlier visited an Ashram Paddhati School in Harpur, Sahajanwa, where he lit an 'Aashirwad Ka Diya' under the party's 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'. He later interacted with students of the Atal Residential School and lit lamps with them.

On Friday morning, Tawde began a series of organisational meetings at the BJP regional office in Ranidiha.

He is holding separate meetings with regional office-bearers, district presidents, MPs, MLAs and former public representatives to take feedback on the organisation's functioning and the political situation at the grassroots level across the region.
