Action shifts to Varanasi, all parties line up big shows

NEW DELHI: Varanasi is set to witness a major campaign clash with Congress planning a big road show by Priyanka Gandhi here on Wednesday; a joint rally by Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav a day later while PM Narendra Modi’s schedule till May 16 has no plans for Varanasi but his plan for May 17, which is the last day of campaigning, is undecided. Modi during his visit to Varanasi to file his nomination had said he may not visit again before polling on May 19, given his commitments across the country.

He will be in the neighbouring constituency of Mirzapur on May 16 before he proceeds to West Bengal for two rallies the same day. There is speculation on whether the PM may spend the night in Varanasi on his way back.
