Vijayakanth's DMDK joins AIADMK-BJP alliance for Lok Sabha poll in Tamil Nadu

As per the agreement Vijaykanth's party has got four seats in Tamil Nadu.

Ending all speculations, actor-turned politician Vijayakanth's DMDK Sunday joined AIADMK-BJP alliance for the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu. AIADMK and DMDK signed a pact on Sunday. As per the agreement Vijaykanth's party has got four seats in Tamil Nadu.

The pact was signed between the top leadership of the two parties in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam and Vijayakanth and DMDK Treasurer and his wife Premalatha.

AIADMK has already finalised seat sharing with BJP and PMK and a few smaller outfits for the Lok Sabha elections.


As part of the alliance, AIADMK will contest on 27 seats, BJP on 5 seats, PMK 7, and PT, NJP and NR Congress will get one seat each.

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, AIADMK had won 37 of the state's 39 seats, with 44.3 per cent vote share. Vijayakanth's DMDK had failed to win even a single seat and had managed to get only 5.1 per cent vote share. NDA parties PMK and BJP had won one seat each.
Elections will be held in Tamil Nadu in a single phase on April 18.
