'DMK cannot silence our voices': Annamalai booked for spreading false info, Tamil Nadu BJP chief issues clarification

Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai was booked on Monday by Cuddalore district police on charges of provocation with an intent to cause riot by claiming that a group of people had murdered a woman and attacked her family members for not voting for the alliance led by the DMK in the Lok Sabha polls, reported Times Now.

In a statement, Annamalai claimed that a group murdered the woman and attacked her family members in Pakkirimaniyam village for not voting for the alliance led by the DMK in the LS polls.

However, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Annamalai issued a clarification. He wrote, "I understand that the Fascist DMK Govt has filed an FIR on my name for exposing the truth about Smt Gomathi’s murder by DMK Goons. Listen to Smt. Gomathi’s husband & her relatives confirming that it wasn’t some previous enmity, and the real reason is that she voted for the BJP, which led to her being beaten up by DMK Goons,"



"Fascist DMK cannot silence our voices by filing frivolous cases such as these, as many cases, including the ones filed by TN CM Thiru @mkstalin, have been filed against us for being the voice of the people & for exposing the truth. Thiru @mkstalin, the day of your ouster is not far. File as many cases as you want; we won't compromise & budge!" he added.

The Cuddalore district police have refuted claims made by a certain section of the media and Annamalai regarding a recent incident. According to a report by Times Now, the district police released a statement asserting that the altercation stemmed from longstanding animosity between two families in the village.

The unfortunate incident unfolded on Friday when a quarrel broke out between members of these two families. In a fit of anger, Kalaimani and his relatives allegedly assaulted Jayasankar and his sister-in-law, J Gomathi. Tragically, Gomathi sustained severe internal injuries and was rushed to the primary health center at Andimadam. Despite efforts, the attending doctor pronounced her 'brought dead'.

In response to this grave incident, the police have taken swift action. Ten individuals have been booked on charges of murder, and five of them, including Kalaimani, his wife K Deepa, and three others, have been arrested. However, the authorities are actively pursuing the remaining suspects who are currently evading arrest.
