Jaipur Lok Sabha elections results 2024: BJP's Manju Sharma wins by defeating Congress' Pratap Singh Khachariyawas
Jaipur, Rajasthan, prepares for the 18th Lok Sabha elections with a power struggle between Congress and BJP. Ramcharan Bohara has been a dominant force in past polls, while new faces like Anil Chopra and Pratap Singh Khachariyawas emerge.
Considered the pink city of India, Jaipur is one of the 25 constituencies of Rajasthan that will undergo polling for the power-packed 18th Lok Sabha starting from April 19. Apart from independent candidates, the power in this constituency has been swinging between Congress and BJP.
Twelve of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan underwent polls in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections with 114 candidates in the fray. Polling will be held in twelve out of 25 Lok Sabha seats – Churu, Nagaurm, Ganganagar, Jhunjhunu, Bikaner, Sikar, Jaipur Rural, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur and Dausa, from 7 am to 6 pm.
According to chief electoral officer Praveen Gupta, a total of 2.54 crore voters are set to vote in the first phase on Friday.
The Bharatiya Janata Party won all 25 seats in Rajasthan on its own in 2014, and in 2019, NDA won 25 seats, the saffron party won 24 seats and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party won one seat.

The grand old party has fielded a new face, Anil Chopra as its candidate for Jaipur (rural). While on the other hand, BJP has field seasoned Rao Rajendra Singh who has represented Shahpura twice and was once elected from Viratnagar. He was also deputy speaker in the assembly. However, he was not given a ticket in 2023 after he lost the 2018 assembly election. Chopra, on the other hand, is a greenhorn. Though he was active in student politics, he has not even fought an assembly election.
It is a traditional face-off between Youth vs Old Guard and age-old Jat vs Rajput caste rivalry in Jaipur (Rural) Lok Sabha constituency, one of the redrawn seats in Rajasthan after the last delimitation.
