Jaipur Lok Sabha elections results 2024: BJP's Manju Sharma wins by defeating Congress' Pratap Singh Khachariyawas

As votes are counted around the country, BJP candidate Manju Sharma has clinched Jaipur Lok Sabha seat by defeating Congress candidate Pratap Singh Khachariyawas by a margin of 3,31,767 votes.

Considered the pink city of India, Jaipur is one of the 25 constituencies of Rajasthan that will undergo polling for the power-packed 18th Lok Sabha starting from April 19. Apart from independent candidates, the power in this constituency has been swinging between Congress and BJP.

Twelve of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan underwent polls in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections with 114 candidates in the fray. Polling will be held in twelve out of 25 Lok Sabha seats – Churu, Nagaurm, Ganganagar, Jhunjhunu, Bikaner, Sikar, Jaipur Rural, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur and Dausa, from 7 am to 6 pm.


According to chief electoral officer Praveen Gupta, a total of 2.54 crore voters are set to vote in the first phase on Friday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party won all 25 seats in Rajasthan on its own in 2014, and in 2019, NDA won 25 seats, the saffron party won 24 seats and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party won one seat.

Jaipur Lok Sabha 2024: Date
Jaipur, both rural and urban, will undergo polling on the same date. The capital city has been included in the first phase of the elections. The voters in Jaipur will cast their votes on April 19. Polls will held on 13 Lok Sabha constituencies -- Tonk, Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalore, Udaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Kota and Jhalawar -- in the second phase.

The grand old party has fielded a new face, Anil Chopra as its candidate for Jaipur (rural). While on the other hand, BJP has field seasoned Rao Rajendra Singh who has represented Shahpura twice and was once elected from Viratnagar. He was also deputy speaker in the assembly. However, he was not given a ticket in 2023 after he lost the 2018 assembly election. Chopra, on the other hand, is a greenhorn. Though he was active in student politics, he has not even fought an assembly election.

It is a traditional face-off between Youth vs Old Guard and age-old Jat vs Rajput caste rivalry in Jaipur (Rural) Lok Sabha constituency, one of the redrawn seats in Rajasthan after the last delimitation.

In the case of Congress, the urban seat saw last-minute changes. The grand old party replaced its candidate for the Jaipur Lok Sabha seat, fielding former Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas after a section of party leaders objected to Sunil Sharma's nomination. Sharma's candidate sparked controversy over his alleged association with the 'Jaipur Dialogue', which is critical of the Congress on social media. Sharma, however, asserted that he has had no association with the organisation and has been invited by it occasionally to present the Congress' view.

The ruling BJP has fielded Manju Sharma for Jaipur (urban).
