Union Minister of Transport, Nitin Gadkari emerged victorious in both the 2014 and 2019 Elections in this constituency. As of the 2011 census, Nagpur District comprising 14 tahsils had a population of 46,53,171 and Nagpur city had a population of 24,05,421 and the urban agglomeration had a population of 25,23,911. The district had a sex ratio of 948 per 1000 male compared to 2001 census figure of 932.
