In a sign of pulls and pressures within the Bharatiya Janata Party unit in Maharashtra, Eknath Khadse is likely to rejoin the Bharatiya Janata Party within 15 days.

"I had met BJP Chief JP Nadda in Delhi recently and I expressed my desire to join the BJP. I am trying to join the BJP in the presence of top BJP leaders in Delhi within the next 15 days."said Khadse.

Khadse, once the tallest leader of the BJP had quit the party in 2020 and joined the Nationalist Congress Party after having a falling out with Maharashtra BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis. Khadse had a falling out with Fadnavis during the latter's tenure as the Chief Minister of the state. Khadse had to resign as a Revenue Minister in 2016 after being embroiled in the purchase of a dubious land deal in Pune involving his son in law Girish Chaudhari.


Chaudhari, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate and spent two years in jail in connection with the case. Khadse had been blaming Fadnavis for targeting him and being responsible for him losing his ministerial berth. Khadse was seen to be heading a clique of leaders in the BJP against Fadnavis who were not happy with the sudden rise of the latter in the party. The feud got personal with Khadse attacking Fadnavis at every given opportunity.
