INDIA bloc has taken a lead in Maharashtra. Out of 48 seats, BJP is leading in 11 seats, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) in six and NCP in one seat in Maharashtra, while the Congress is ahead in 10, Shiv Sena (UBT) in 11. The NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) is leading in eight seats.
What do the early trends show?
- Counting of votes in the 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state began at 8 am and counting of postal ballots was taken up first, the official said.
- Gadkari, who is contesting his third Lok Sabha polls from Nagpur, has taken a lead over Congress candidate Vikas Thakre, an election official said.
- Goyal contested his maiden Lok Sabha election from Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat against Congress candidate Bhushan Patil.
- In Baramati seat, despite a slow start, Supriya Sule has taken a lead over her sister in law Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.
- BJP candidate from the Chandrapur Lok Sabha seat, Sudhir Mungantiwar, is trailing by 9,489 votes
- AIMIM's Imtiaz Jaleel leads in Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat
- Independent Vishal Patil, who rebelled against the Congress to contest from Sangli, had established a comfortable lead.

What did the exit polls say about Maharashtra?
Apart from TimesNow-ETG poll survey, all others predicted that the Bhartiya Janata Party-led National-Democratic Alliance (NDA) will leave behind the INDIA bloc to clinch victory in 32 to 35 seats.
Voting in the state of Maharashtra for 48 seats concluded in the first five phases of the Lok Sabha elections.
If one goes by early trends, the INDIA bloc is all set to stake claim of Maharashtra battle. The final numbers are yet to be released by the poll panel.
