2019 Lok Sabha polls: Maharashtra Congress leader's son Sujay Vikhe Patil joins BJP
In a big embarrassment to Congress party just months ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Maharashtra's Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil's son Sujay joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today.

Sujay join the saffron party in presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve at an event held in south Mumbai. He is the fourth generation of the Vikhe-Patil clan.

According to some reports, BJP is likely to field Sujay from Maharashtra's Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat which is currently held by BJP's Dilip Mansukhlal Gandhi.

"I've taken this decision against my father’s wishes. I don’t know how much my parents will support this decision, but I'll try my best to make my family proud by working under the guidance of BJP," Vikhe Patil said after joining the BJP.

Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil had reportedly tried to get a Lok Sabha ticket for his son from Ahmednagar, but the seat was in NCP's quota as part of its alliance with Congress.
