Union Minister Smriti Irani was seen holding a bow and arrow at a roadshow in Kerala's Wayanad, where sitting MP Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination yesterday.

She attended the event to extend her support to K Surendran, the Kerala BJP chief and candidate from Wayanad, ahead of his nomination filing for the Lok Sabha elections.

“I have come from the constituency where the Gandhi family held power for 50 years. Today we start this yatra with the blessings of more than 150 swayam sevaks who sacrificed their lives to save democracy in Kerala,” she said.




Rahul Gandhi along with his sister and party's general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held a roadshow at Kalpetta yesterday before filing his nomination from Wayanad.

CPI national leader and Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate Annie Raj also submitted her nomination papers yesterday in the same constituency.

The CPI is a partner of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front in Kerala.
