BJP imposing one history, one nation, and one language: Rahul Gandhi in Kunnur rally
AICC leader Rahul Gandhi hit out at the BJP-led central government on Thursday, alleging that it wants to wipe out cultural diversity by imposing one history, one nation and one language on the country.

The leader held up a bouquet of different flowers, comparing it to the country’s diversity to make his point. “Imagine if I said that only white flowers would remain here. There will be no leaves. That is what the BJP and RSS are trying to do. In Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and India,” he said.

In his second visit to Kerala within a week, Gandhi said the Congress-led UDF accepted the diversity of India with its varying traditions, languages and histories. “Malayalam is not just a simple language; inside it is the hidden history, tragedy, and happiness of the Kerala people. If you remove Malayalam from Kerala, then how would a mother in the state explain the history of this great land to her children? This is what we are protecting,” he said.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Tamil Nadu, where he said he liked dosas, the AICC leader said that while he appreciated them as well, it was not enough to truly understand the state. “Tamil Nadu has brilliant poets. It has a huge history, and traditions,” he added.

Gandhi further accused the BJP of using central agencies to further its agenda, and trying to change the nature of the country. “India can never be changed. You are wasting your time. You are creating disharmony that is harming millions of people,” he added.

Gandhi is seeking reelection for the second consecutive time from Kerala’s Wayanad constituency, which will go to polls along with the rest of the state in eight days. The leader is expected to campaign in the state one more time on April 22 to ensure the Congress party repeats its victory from the 2019 polls.
