Karadi Sanganna
Koppal BJP MP Karadi Sanganna is expected to announce his decision on joining the Congress on Wednesday after meeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.

Wednesday is also an important day for the Congress as its star leader Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Mandya and Kolar to campaign for the Congress candidates.

The BJP replaced him with Basavaraj Kyavatoor for the Lok Sabha polls after sections of local workers opposed ticket to him this time. Sanganna, 73, is a Panchamasali, a dominant subsect of the Lingayat community.

Congress MLA Laxman Savadi, who quit the BJP last year, is leading the talks with the Congress to get Sanganna to join the party.

When the party announced Kyavatoor’s name last month, Sanganna planned to contest as an Independent, rebelling against the party’s decision.

Sanganna was firm on contesting the assembly polls from Koppal last year, but the party was not in favour of it.

He had plans to quit the BJP ahead of the assembly polls, last year, miffed over denial of ticket to contest the assembly election. But the BJP prevented his exit by partly meeting his demand by fielding his daughter in law Manjula Amaresh.
